About Us

Donna Flower  specialises in vintage, retro and antique textiles.

 What do we do?

We sell unique and one-off antique fabrics from the 19th Century, retro fabrics from the 1940's, 1950's, 1960's  and 70's and now even have a 1980's section. We have fabrics for the modernist or retro house and textiles to suit the Arts and Crafts, Art Deco, country chic or shabby chic home.

Scouring French flea markets, auctions, textile fairs and thrift shops we regularly source  quilts, eiderdowns, curtains, buttons, lace and ribbons as well as faded floral fabrics, feedsacks and vintage children's fabrics. If there is a particular fabric or vintage item you are looking for please ask us, we are only too happy to help.

We regularly work with designers and magazines and can loan out fabrics for photoshoots or supply high resolution images.

How did it start?

Even as a little child I appreciated vintage fabrics. My  stylish mother wore beautiful vintage 1920's, 30's and 40's dresses in the 1960's and 70's as these were cheap and easily picked up at jumble sales. I loved the little floral prints, the feel of the cottons and crepe de chines. In the 1980's I wore 1950's dresses that I  picked up at the weekly jumble sales where I looked for individual clothing. I wanted, more than anything, to look different to all those girls wearing High Street clothes. I remember the big full skirts with many petticoats and how special they felt to wear, the swishing noise they made as you walked or danced.  I also made a lot of my own clothes and would be frantically sewing on a Saturday so that I could wear my outfit that night!

More recently I discovered a love of quilting and patchwork. I came across feedsack fabrics from USA which is something that  is not part of our cultural history. I bought these, and other vintage fabrics, which became a collection that has now grown to gigantic proportions.  From my searches  I have sourced some rare and unusual fabrics, some of which I use and some that I have collected to sell one day.

Donnaflower.com has developed from this hobby and personal collection.   I endeavour to continue finding beautiful vintage fabrics and homewares, creating this online textile fair for you to enjoy!
